Bernie Grant, Diane Abbott and Paul Boateng were elected as MPs. Since then, progress has been made. But anti-Black racism, discrimination and social injustice still rife and on the rise within our society.

The first Black MP in the UK was Bernie Grant, who was elected in 1987 to represent Tottenham. He was one of the first Black MPs alongside Paul Boateng and Diane Abbott, who became the first Black woman MP in the same year.
